Statement on the Success of Miss Freetown 2022 in Winning Miss Sierra Leone 2023

We are delighted to announce the remarkable achievement of our reigning MISS FREETOWN 2022, who has emerged as the winner of the prestigious MISS SIERRA LEONE 2023 pageant. This victory is a testament to her exceptional talent, dedication, and the unwavering support she received from Miss Freetown SL Limited.

Throughout her journey, we have been privileged to groom and support her morally and financially, recognising her potential and commitment to representing Freetown nationally. We took great pride in preparing and mentoring her for this competition, and today, we are immensely proud as she brings honour to the Miss Freetown brand.

However, it is important to address her birthplace and the discussions with the Miss Sierra Leone Board. Initially, our understanding was that the winner of Miss Freetown would represent the Western Area Urban without needing an audition, serving as a direct representative. That was the agreement we entered into with the Miss Sierra Leone organisation.

However, during the process, it came to our attention that the birth certificate our contestant provided indicated she was born in Moyamba, her hometown. This raised concerns, and we were on the verge of withdrawing her from the competition. It was at this critical juncture that the Miss Sierra Leone Board engaged in a Zoom conference call with Amb. Alhaji K. Tarawally, the CEO of the LAKE Group of Companies, appealed for our contestant to represent Moyamba instead of Freetown.

After much deliberation and several weeks of discussions, we unanimously agreed to the request made by the Miss Sierra Leone Board. We recognised their plea and the significance of our contestant representing her hometown, Moyamba. It is important to note that this decision was made in the best interest of our contestant and in recognition of the importance of promoting unity and inclusivity within Sierra Leone.

We stand by our contestant, acknowledging her remarkable accomplishments and the indomitable spirit she exhibited throughout the competition. She has proven herself to be a worthy representative of both Freetown and Moyamba, embodying the values of beauty, intelligence, and grace that the Miss Sierra Leone pageant represents.
